First Friday Art Walk Print 2007 Each year, Kasini House commissions a limited edition print from a Vermont artist to commemorate First Friday Art Walk and Burlington’s art community. The image of the print is used as the First Friday Art Walk poster for the season. An edition of 30 is available for purchase. This year, Kasini House selected emerging artist Torrey Valyou. A recent graduate of the University of Vermont, Valyou is a native of the state. He lives in Winooski and works as an illustrator and printmaker. The 2007 First Friday Art Walk print shows two hands extending out from one another on a bright orange stripes with paisleys. “Hands are very common in most of my pieces; my hands create what my mind sees. In this case the hands represent my exposure to the world, and more specifically Burlington,” said Valyou. The silkscreen print is 11x17” on 15”x22” Stonehenge paper. In 2006, the first year of the program, Kasini House commissioned a print from Ira Cummings. That print, an etching, was also used to promote First Friday Art Walk.
