Birthday parties, lollipops and love. The simple things in life that everyone and everything appreciates. Not just men and women, boys and girls, but monsters, three eyed monkeys and Mr. Crazy Eye. Well, at least in the world of Veronique Perron. This young, vibrant artist from Montreal creates a world full of fun, color, and whimsical delight. Montreal and its residents are often reflected in the work, both bustling with excitement and surprise. Her monstrous creatures are carrying out relatively human lives. They attend birthday parties, play in bands, get stomach aches. The three eyed monster with the stomach ache isn’t sick but rather ate too many chocolate covered ants. One of her most entertaining satires is the make believe 'sausage land' inhabited by funky creatures who do things such as go to the dentist, pose for cameras, and express their love for lollipops. Before engulfing herself in a land where "funky butt cats" are the norm, she worked as a special effects creator/technician in the entertainment field and created masks for Cirque du Soleil. Since then she has focused all her creative energy into her painting, and continues to expand the magical world she has created. |
