Letting Go

by Stacey Carnell

A Vermont native, Stacey Carnell has always been fascinated by nature and man's place within it. From organisms to industry, her work explores the idea of mans attempts to integrate the urban with the organic. A graduate of Boston University's Graphic Design program, Stacey has been a professional designer for over 5 years, working with companies such as Reebok and Burton Snowboards.

Her small works of inkjet-on-paper, often with found images like maps, are simple and poetic. Stacy's recent series "Letting Go" is a poem in five parts.

The Taste of Static

This taste of static is not what I expected. The reception is poor and the programming stuck on the same old channel that I spend all my time trying to change.

I Said Forget It

Let's try and make a night of it. I have the music and you have the ways. Wait, we always end up bleeding, so forget that I said it. Forget I said anything at all.

Open Wide Open

Grind our teeth so tightly to keep it all in. I open my mouth but just move the air, and neither of us will budge long enough to let the other breathe it all in.

So Damn Tired

To say the same thing, I'm outta breath and outta cash, so damn tired of holding out in hopes that it will all come and put me to sleep.

I Am Some Things

I am some things that I want to forget. I am some things that I sort of regret. But still I make and move without thinking first and wonder why I cause the damage I see.
